FAQs

Q?

How is Dr. Moon’s office different from other dental offices?

A.

Dr. Moon has a reoccurring theme in his office in which he spends time getting to know his patient first. Every individual is different. Each individual is unique in the way they receive information, how they deal with treatment and how they feel about dentistry. You cannot have a cookie-cutter mentality when it comes to health. What may work for one person, may be completely wrong for another person, even though from the outside, they seem to have a similar issue. Because our office prioritizes the relationship more than anything else, we are able to address these issues and emotions in a very personal and meaningful way. Many times, treatment outcomes and paths have nothing to do with fixing teeth. We like to take a step back and look at the broad picture in a holistic way. We deal with timing issues, fear issues, financial issues, tolerance issues, age issues, health issues, stress issues, etc, so many factors that don't have anything to do with fixing teeth. Once we can see the big picture, it is easy to set up short term and long term goals because we know we have the patients best interest in mind. That is the main difference in our office. The secondary reason is that Dr. Moon oversees every aspect of the treatment himself. From placing implants to restoring implants, to root canals and surgical wisdom teeth, many procedures which are referred out to other specialist in other offices, are not referred out in our office. Dr. Moon personally does all the procedures here himself. That way, you always see the same doctor, always see the same hygienist, always see the same office manager. That allows us to really get to know each patient very well, and keeps things consistent in our mission statement. Also, we as practitioners know the patients history intimately, so we can better treat the person instead of treating the tooth. You will feel right at home when you visit our office and we will definitely get to know each other on a first name basis. You will immediately feel a high level of experiential wisdom and trust.

Q?

What can I expect on my first visit? Can I get a cleaning on the same day?

A.

On your initial appointment, we will typically schedule about an hour of your time. We will first take a series of full mouth x-rays followed by a thorough examination with Dr. Moon. He will go over all your x-rays with you and may take intraoral pictures so that you may have a better visual explanation. He will also give you a visual oral cancer screening and examine your gum health. Some of our patients who come to our practice have very healthy gums. However, periodontal disease is a silent disease. You may think your gums are healthy but your body might be fighting an infection that you might not be unaware of. You may be a patient with very healthy gums or your gums might also be very infected. Most patients fall somewhere in between. So before we schedule your cleaning, Dr. Moon would like to gauge the health of your gums and be able to tell our Hygienist what type of cleaning you need and have a chance to modify the cleaning for your optimal health.

Q?

When can I bring my child for their first appointment? How old do they have to be?

A.

We usually recommend for you to bring your child in around the age of 3 or 4. We’ve come to know that imparting a positive experience on a child will take them into their adulthood. For this reason we make it a priority that your child will have a positive experience year after year so that once they become adults, they will not have any fears of going to the dentist on a regular basis. Your child’s first or even second visit will be what we call a “Happy Visit”. What this entails is a chance to sit in our chair play with some of our safe instruments, suction their spit, get a balloon made of our gloves, and they get to choose their own fun toothbrush and a toy for being such an awesome patient. The goal is to get your child to feel comfortable with us. Once they feel at ease and we get to know each other well, most children have been the best patients.

Q?

Do you offer conscious sedation and anesthesia for fearful patients?

A.

Yes! Conscious sedation involves a gentle oral medication that allows you to relax while your treatment is being done, without falling completely asleep. You are aware of what is happening, but you aren't anxious. Many patients say time passed so quickly they could hardly believe their treatment was already done! For sleep sedation, we provide an in-house anesthesiologist to ensure that you are safely sedated and comfortably unaware of your treatment. Dr. Moon and Dr. Choi would be pleased to answer your questions about these options.

Q?

Does your office accept insurance?

A.

Yes, we accept most PPO plans. When it comes to dental insurances, every patient’s dental plan is different. A good insurance vs. a bad insurance is not determined by the company but rather it is dependent upon the amount of coverage you or your employer purchased for you. Unfortunately, most patients are unaware of their coverage. That is why we are here to help! We research your insurance plan very closely and make sure that your insurance plan works in your best interest. Although we do not allow the insurance plan to dictate the needs of your oral health, but we understand that your insurance plan is for your benefit so we care a lot about it as well!

Q?

What payment options do you offer?

A.

We are pleased to offer one of the best financing plans available, CareCredit. Even if your credit isn’t perfect, as is the case for so many people in this tough economy, this plan will often be workable for most patients. Financing through Care Credit makes dentistry affordable by offering manageable monthly payments. Some plans even have 0% financing – in this day and age that’s a rare thing.

Q?

Do you offer braces?

A.

We offer Invisalign, a truly modern orthodontic straightening process that is suited to many cases. Please call us for an appointment. Dr. Moon will evaluate your bite and teeth and listen to your needs and wants to help you determine if Invisalign is right for you.
